I am not worthy

Some of the people who read this blog are amongst the cleverest, most productive and influential programmers and technical authors in the world. This, despite the fact that I am an utter fool, obsessed with toilet humour and cheap satire. I am utterly bewildered at how fortunate I am to have the ear of such industry legends as Kathleen Dollard, Julia Lerman and Mike Gunderloy, amongst others.

I was so blown away, just now when I found a comment from Kathleen Dollard that I burnt the meal I was half-way through cooking. The long suffering Mrs. Secret Geek was less than impressed, but ultimately sympathetic.

Kathleen, in case you don't know, is the author of 'Code Generation in Microsoft .NET', a topic which I am right behind, even though I confess to not having seen the book personally. On her site she uses a lord of the rings metaphor to explain the importance of Code Generation:

Hi! I am now blogging at gendotnet.com/blog. I don't yet have a link on my site, but hopefully in the next day or two.

I am now reading this book, and am loving it all. The first part seemed to get going a little slow (no offense, Kathleen!), but I am now in the swing of things and think this book is a-w-e-s-o-m-e! I have been using some form or another of code gen for over a year now (LLBLGen (brute force) and CodeSmith (template-based)). I personally can't believe more people are not using code gen. Crazy, I say. I talk with other developers about it and most often then meet my comments with disbelief or ridicule, as if I am naive about it. I acknowledge to them that it is not a panacea, but they simply shake their heads and declare that it is useless. Weird, I have been much more productive with it than without it.

Kathleen has a website at http://www.gendotnet.com/, but not blog yet, AFAIK . . .

why not get one of those big industrial fridges? that way you can fit your huge head inside, along with pleeeenty of food! Or better yet, buy a funnel, attach it to your mouth and have someone pour a continual stream of food in the top. Then just sit there like jabba the hut, gettin more and more... comfortable.

so when are you gonna get your own blog, Kathleen? You can get free space at Brinkster.com, or you can ask people at other technical blog sites to set you up with them. It's an excellent outlet for your writing, and you'd be suprised how nice everyone is about it.

Oh, great, Leon. Now my head is too big to fit in the refrigerator and I am bound to starve to death <vbg>.
