A Girl

Yeh, you heard me.

Lily Jade Bambrick was born this morning, 1st February 2007, at 8:11.

She's light, just 2750 grams (6 pounds, 1 ounce), but of average length (50cm).

I have notified the officials from the guiness book of world records that this is probably the most beautiful baby ever born anywhere.

New mum, Le Shaz is doing brilliantly, and was last seen rock climbing at Kangaroo Point cliffs, while juggling six flaming chainsaws.

No photos just yet, but i will do the gushy-new-father thing and post up some pics in time.

Now back to work all you suckers who aren't on holiday ;-)

Congratulations! You are wrong about the most beautiful baby part as me and my wife hold that record… :)

'Mike Woodhouse' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:18:23 GMT, sez:

Got that hit-by-a-truck feeling yet?

'Andrew' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:20:27 GMT, sez:

Congratulations! Girls are the best. Well, mine is anyway!

'JonR' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:25:02 GMT, sez:

Thanks guys ;-)

>Got that hit-by-a-truck feeling yet?

genuine LOL. Not yet Mike, but i'm waiting for it. The feeling currently is *exactly* the same as very bad jetlag. An excited confused exhausted feeling, with numb feet.

But it gets easier after this right??

'Atli' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:35:49 GMT, sez:

Congratulations Leon and Shaz! :)

'Skakunov Alex' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:50:15 GMT, sez:

Congratulations! My son is having a greater choice :]

'Oleg Tkachenko' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 10:50:24 GMT, sez:

As a father of a girl I know what you feel! Congrats to you and you wife.

I have found that just when you get into a pattern things will change. I also found that as time goes on the changes become REALLY exponential in magnitude and speed. My daughter turns 2 in May and she has been say (legible) new words pretty much daily if not hourly.

I have found that things get easier because this becomes your normal. There are times where I find myself just watching her and I also think about what it must have been like for my parents looking at me. I have a much better appreciation for my parents now than I could have ever before...

'Simon' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 11:13:11 GMT, sez:

Hey, well done! I'm really pleased for you both.

'punky' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 11:23:53 GMT, sez:

Congrats! My girl is 1 year + 1 day today. Me oh my what a year it's been. From a sweet little creature with few skills besides breast-locating and -sucking to the girl who was giving her dad strawberries from her mashed-up birthday cake yesterday. I know it feels like you've just come OFF the rollercoaster, but it's only just beginning - you're in for quite a ride. Best of luck, it's going to be great!

'Glen G' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 11:48:52 GMT, sez:

Hey Leon, congrats to you and 'Le Shaz'. The truck will be along shortly I'm sure.

We are 4 months ahead of you with our little girl. (You saw a pic of her a couple of weeks ago.. she was the one with the dodgy bloke holding her)
'Mum' went back to work yesterday for the first time, leaving 'Dad' to manage bub and working from home... oh dear... not a pretty sight.
Never mind... the Hurricane Katrina crew will be around to clean up shortly.
Cheers and if they are not home from the hospital yet, quick... try to get some sleep.

'Alan Stevens' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 12:34:58 GMT, sez:

Congrats! Parenting has been my most challenging and rewarding "development project" yet.

++Alan

'Darryl' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 12:35:12 GMT, sez:

Congratulations! I have two girls myself. In my case, it didn't get any easier until the elementary school years. But now we're getting into the teenage years, and I'm thinking maybe I'd like to have them back as toddlers.

'Jake Good' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 12:44:21 GMT, sez:

congratulations! i'm jealous... i want a little girl!

'Carlos M Perez' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 13:16:43 GMT, sez:

Enhorabuena!!

Congratulations, Leon. I simply can't say anything else to everyone has already said, so I've said it in Spanish. ;-)

'Steve Pietrek' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 13:28:35 GMT, sez:

Congrats!

'Craig' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 13:46:50 GMT, sez:

Congrats.

No, it doesn't get any easier. My daughter is 2 1/2 and every day is a new, but rewarding, challenge.

Savor every moment of it, even those late, late nights. You will no doubt find yourself wanting time to slow down quite a bit because kids grow up too damn fast. I know mine has.

'Haacked' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 13:48:18 GMT, sez:

Congrats! Now you can commence being a real-life TimeSnapper for your daughter.

"Gee, what was Lily doing at exactly 17hrs 3 minutes and 31 seconds ago? Ah, here we are..."

'keith' on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 15:48:33 GMT, sez:

'Steve' on Wed, 07 Feb 2007 13:33:47 GMT, sez:

Congrats!

It does, in fact, get easier. I have a 9 year old boy, 6 year old girl and my twin daughters are about to celebrate their 2nd birthday.

Wouldn't trade it for anything. Even the hard times I look back on with fond memories. There really isn't anything that compares to taking care of a baby.

When you inevitably find yourself up in the middle of the night comforting your daughter and trying to get her to go back to sleep take heart, I did it with twice as many babies and survived. I think my record was about 45 minutes straight holding both of the girls when they were about 4 months old. It was then that I decided I could describe raising twins with four words - "your arms get tired".

'Oh wow.' on Thu, 15 Mar 2007 16:57:57 GMT, sez:

She sounds adorable :D Yesyes. Post the pictures ^-^ I would love to see her :)
