Wow ! This is such a great idea. I think I am going to write my own dupes.exe. I will call it "Dupe of Edinburgh."

nice one chai, how about "Dupe, where's my car?"

Doeke on January 11, 2013 02:59 sez:

I love the tool, but shouldn't the options be modelled after the "dir" command?

Like: dupes /s c:\temp
Or: dupes /s c:\prj\*.cs

Hm...adding DateCreated/Modified fields could also be useful when judiciously evaluating dupes...time for a pull request! ;)

@SumDumGuy -- pull requests welcome, it's a good feature idea.

@Doeke -- I love using the options class from mono. I can't go back to dos style params.

I use Duplicate Files Deleter as it is very effective. It is 100% accurate and performs the scan quickly.

This is kind of a strange request. I'm writing a novel and would like to ask your permission to feature elements of the Dupes code. Also, I have next to no experience coding, and, if you grant such permission, I would appreciate some guidance plugging in the relevant content. Thanks ahead of time for any assistance.

definitely grant that to you @Chris -- contact me leonbambrick at gmail dot com to talk some more!

Thanks for the useful information. These methods really work. I want to add to this list a program that I have been using for several years. This is Manyprog Find Duplicate Files. https://manyprog.com/find-duplicate-files.php
